You’ve just typed ‘The End’ at the bottom of your manuscript. What next? After all that hard work, you just want to get it sent off to an agent or a publisher. But wait…
Critique
When you read it through, are you completely sure of the characters’ motivations? Do they evolve and change over the course of the novel? Were all the ends tied up? Have each of the subplots been resolved? If you feel you would benefit from a set of trained eyes to look over your novel, then you might want to consider my critique service.
I would read your novel and produce a report, guiding you on areas of strength and provide suggestions on aspects of the book to focus on.
Developmental edit
This is an in-depth edit, looking at areas such as plot, character arcs, point of view and ‘show, don’t tell’. My suggestions would be written on the manuscript itself and accompanied by a report, similar to that in my critique service.
Copy-edit
Perhaps you are satisfied with the overall plot but aren’t sure you’ve chosen the correct words or the sentences don’t quite flow properly. My copy-editing service will ensure that your readers can enjoy your gripping book, rather than concentrate on your word choices.
Proofreading
You don’t want your manuscript rejected because of spelling mistakes or because the layout is inconsistent. I offer proofreading for this, which is a final look through the manuscript before you upload it ready to sit on someone’s e-reader or send it to an agent.
What happens when you contact me?
I’ll send you a form, so that I can learn more details about your book and what your ambitions are for it.
Next, I would ask for a copy of your manuscript, from which I would edit a sample and provide a set quotation.
If you decide to go ahead, I would take a 10% deposit to book you a spot in my schedule.
