When your book is almost ready for publication, I can carry out a final check for those niggly errors that often don’t get noticed earlier, in things such as:
- spelling, grammar and punctuation
- consistency, e.g. well-being doesn’t become wellbeing and vice versa
- layout
- references to specific illustrations
- obvious factual errors

Copyediting
This is a step in the editing process, when the book has been completed and you are happy with the plot or how the book develops, but it hasn’t been laid out yet. I will:
- check for factual accuracy
- ensure that all words are written consistently throughout, using a style sheet
- mark the manuscript up so that it’s ready to be laid out
- check grammar, spelling and punctuation
- suggest small changes to improve the flow of the manuscript
